Many architectural styles that came to us from the Middle Ages include the design of bedrooms in the style of ladies' boudoirs. Of course, over time, life has made adjustments to these styles.
After all, the main finishing material of such bedrooms in those days was fabric:

• Apply it now, but in a slightly different way. The canopies over the bed, which were an indispensable attribute of every boudoir, are almost a thing of the past.
  Yes, and what to be surprised? In the aristocratic houses of past centuries, the volume of space under the canopy was no less than the modern interior of a small bedroom of 10 sq m.

Bedrooms: classic style

• Currently, in the form of a canopy drape ceilings, or niches in the head of the bed. Wall decoration in the bedroom, it can also be performed with the participation of the fabric, but this is most often a fabric-based wallpaper.
  And if you still use fabric, then it is covered with panels of wood or drywall.
• But the curtains as they were, and remained the main accessory of the ladies' bedroom. In the Baroque, Art Deco, Empire style, there were always heavy curtains with lambrequins from velvet or satin.

• From an aesthetic point of view, there is no difference whether the walls are finished: with fabric or wallpaper. The main goal is to decorate the walls with the help of a picture or relief.
  The quality of modern wallpaper can do without repair for at least ten years: they do not fade in the sun. Having a smooth, even surface, each of us can glue the wallpaper on our own, and the price of this material is quite affordable.

• As you can see in the example above, the wall decoration in the bedroom is done only with wallpaper with a pleasant pattern and a neutral shade. No remarkable structures on the ceiling.
  Only accessories: elegant furniture, antique lamps and satin textiles show that the design of a small bedroom of 10 square meters is made in the style of art deco.
• Drawing on the walls can be obtained not only with the help of fabric and wallpaper. In our next example, patterns on the surface of the walls and ceiling are applied using a stencil.

  Most often, only one wall or its fragment at the head of the bed is enough. In typical apartments, the bedroom is usually the smallest living room.
• In a small bedroom, it is very important to finish so that the room seems more spacious. So, the emphasis on a fragment of the wall distracts attention to itself, visually makes the space of the room larger.
  At the same time, the remaining walls should have a neutral monophonic color.

• Such a large drawing, as in the image above, over the entire surface of the walls can only be used in spacious rooms. For a small room, a fragment on the wall is enough.
  And if you really want to do wallpaper decoration, then you need to choose a small flower, or relief, without aggressive patterns.
• But everything is allowed in a spacious bedroom, including a combination of patterns with a geometric pattern. On the example below, the decoration of the bedroom is made in the neoclassical style. On the walls - all the same wallpaper.
  With their help, the space of the voluminous bedroom is divided into zones. Moreover, in the part where the bed is located, the ceiling is pasted over with the same wallpaper as the wall.

Contemporary classic bedroom decoration

The second half of the plasterboard false ceiling is covered with a glossy film to match the wallpaper. Gorgeous chandelier with pendants, lighting along the perimeter of the ceiling, tapestries as textiles and chic finishes niches in the wall - all this makes the interior in the style of modern classics festive and elegant.

Non-trivial solutions

There are many materials and their combinations that can make the bedroom cozy and as pleasant as possible for relaxation.
For example, decorating a bedroom with wood:

• This option is more acceptable for private houses - there the bedrooms are often located in the attic. Its walls are sheathed with various types of lining, facade, and even parquet board, laminate.

• AT house of timber or logs, you don’t have to worry about wall decoration. The ideal proportions of calibrated building timber have a good appearance, and do not need special finishing - it is enough to process the walls with a stain or varnish.
• In such houses, all the attention is paid to the ceiling: ceiling beams are mounted on it, or supporting structures are used in design, they are hemmed with lining or glued plywood. A wooden surface can be not only painted - it is carved, inlaid, or hand-painted on it, as in our example.

• In apartments, the wooden decoration of the bedroom is practically not carried out. In any case, in small rooms.
  And if the tree is used, it is very metered, in the form of decorative wall decoration at the head of the bed. This can be a decorative wall paneling, wall panels with imitation of wood texture, or carved panels of natural wood.

• Various plasterboard designs have become extremely popular, combining the wall and ceiling in the part of the room where the bed is. Such decoration of bedrooms, as in the photo below, is more suitable for designing a recreation area in large studio rooms.
  Please note that wallpaper with a large contrasting pattern is also used in this area.

• In the bedroom decor, to create a beautiful relief on one wall, you can use textured wallpapers, linkcrust, decorative plaster, various panels with 3D effect. They can decorate both the head of the bed and the opposite wall.
  If you are designing a room with your own hands, the easiest way is to use: either a relief wallpaper or a panel.
• To create such a relief with the help of decorative plaster, you need professional skills, as, indeed, in working with link crust. Despite the fact that he is a kind of wallpaper, the technology of his sticker is more complex.
  And if you start to glue the linkcrust like regular wallpaper, you can spoil all the material.

• Panels, as a rule, have a small format, mounted on glue, which makes this type of finish the easiest. You can use 3D panels in the interior of the bedroom, designed in the style of minimalism.
  This modern design attracts with its conciseness and simplicity. And if many architectural styles are designed only for spacious rooms, in the minimalism style it is quite possible to design a small bedroom.
