Warm electric walls

Warm electric walls have recently begun to gain popularity. Although this is not a mass phenomenon, but it is becoming more and more willing. After all, many want to save on heating and choose the best options.

For this heating, several options can be used, and today we will consider them. Also, in the video in this article and the photo, you can get additional information that will be extremely useful.

Possible options for warm walls

Warm electric walls can be made in different ways. Technically, there should be a heat source and a carrier that will distribute this heat along the wall plane. At what evenly.

Attention: Before you make a purchase of equipment for a start you need to carefully weigh everything. After all, the price will not be small. Therefore, we must understand how much this option will be profitable.

Advantages and disadvantages

Among the minuses of warming a house with electricity, it is worth noting the following points:

  1. Not the best heat transfer. This is due to the fact that the heating component is inside the wall, and the heat, before it is in the heated room, has to get through the plaster layer or plasterboard (see Facing walls with plasterboard sheets in different ways) In this case, only the space within twenty centimeters from the wall is warmed up, and the warm air rises immediately, without warming the entire room. As a result, it becomes necessary to install an additional electric heating device.
  2. You can’t put a cabinet or sideboard or any household electrical appliances on the wall anymore. The furniture will dry out and the appliances will heat up. Bookshelves placed in warm places (see Wooden shelves on the wall: which ones to choose), a refrigerator, a washing machine, a TV will reduce the heating of the room, and exposure to heat will not affect the safety of furniture, which will slowly dry up and crack. In addition, electrical appliances can simply overheat.
  3. Large losses of heat, which will be directed not only inside the rooms, but also on the street, outside the house. Lining an infrared fabric with foil insulation will only lead to the fact that the effectiveness of heating the room will simply decrease.
  4. Reducing the possibility of using walls as holding surfaces. Drilling and hanging on the wall a picture, carpets, clocks, a TV will not work, if during the installation of a warm floor there will not be foreseen fixtures for objects for all occasions.
  5. The most serious drawback of electric heating in the walls is the accumulation of condensate in the space between the cold surface of the wall and the warm (cm. The walls get wet: what could be the reason) The dew point shifts toward the internal component. Laying an electric cable inside the wall leads to the dew point becoming the middle of the wall, and not its external part, as happens with ordinary walls. As a result, the wall will begin to collapse thoroughly more quickly. Plus, for the fungus and mold there will simply be ideal conditions for active reproduction.
  6. Growth in cash costs for electricity consumption. Even if laying the heating cable vertically will be done with a large distance between its bends, the consumption of electrical energy will in any case increase significantly.Whether it really gets warmer is a big question.
  7. The length of the decorating wall finish will be greatly reducedand, most importantly, she will lose her appeal.

Electric heating of the vertical surfaces of the room does not guarantee that, after a certain number of weeks or months, the wallpaper will not peel off in the apartment. Wallpaper can come off even faster, due to the fact that when installing a heated floor, the adhesive for the tile will not be correctly selected, it does not matter in the kitchen or in the bathroom.

By the end of winter, the tile may fall off onto the floor by itself. This can happen even in the middle of the heating season. It is good if the walls are sheathed with sheets of drywall or plastic (see Plastic trim: choose panels).

It turns out that the disadvantages of such a heating organization are too many, and all of them will not please us. Having studied a lot of critical reviews of my tips on the Internet forums of people who encountered problems in improving heating of their homes, we came to the conclusion that the installation of a warm floor on a wall has only two main advantages.

Namely:

  1. Vertical internal heating of the room does not spread dust particles across all rooms.
  2. Since the heating elements are placed inside the panel, space is added to the room.

Indoor and wall water heating devices

Pipes placed inside the wall or on the outside of the wall are connected to the heating equipment for the home. The main equipment, on which its work depends, is already there, it can easily cope with the additional load.

It:

  • The pipes themselves;
  • Pump unit;
  • Distribution unit;
  • A device that maintains a constant temperature;
  • Temperature measuring instrument.
  • Other automatic appliances.

Attention: Installation of hydraulic systems on the walls is most often carried out by the so-called “dry” method, using fences covering the devices in the form of dampers or panels, or by the “wet” method, that is, before plastering.

Installation of devices on the wall with subsequent coating with plaster is done gradually and includes the following steps:

  1. Cleaning the surface of old paint and dirty stains and the subsequent placement of electrical wiring with an electric box.
  2. Installation, heat mixing unit, if not previously installed.
  3. Sticker polystyrene foam and coating it with the necessary vapor barrier.
  4. Strengthening the fastening parts on which the pipeline is located. When installed inside the bathroom, heating the external system is permissible to continue beyond the boundaries of the wall. It can be used to dry towels and linen.
  5. Zigzag placement of the pipeline. The distance between the zigzags of the pipe is determined independently. The main thing is for the coil to bypass the areas where the installation of furniture accessories is planned.
  6. Pipe connection to the mixing unit.
  7. Pressure testing of pipes with a pressure one and a half times higher than usual.
  8. Attaching a reinforcing fiberglass mesh.
  9. Wall covering with a small film of gypsum plaster.
  10. Strengthening the thermal sensor.
  11. After the plaster dries, a lime-cement compound is applied to it. The size of this layer above the pipe should be no more than two to three centimeters. Otherwise, the plaster will simply crack. In addition, a too thick layer of the stucco mixture will interfere with high-quality heat transfer.
  12. This is followed by hardening the plaster with a fine mesh before puttying. This sequence of actions will prevent the formation of cracks when heating the wall.

Installation by the "dry" method for any systems also occurs in stages:

  1. A heat-insulating and vapor-insulating substance, or expanded polystyrene, or foil foamed film is attached to a wall that has been freed and cleaned of old coatings and stains.
  2. Tires for installation of the pipeline fasten.
  3. The pipeline is fixed, which is connected to the mixing cabinet.The operation of the mixer is checked.
  4. The base is made of metal or bars.
  5. Installation of a “warm wall” is being completed by attaching plasterboard plates to the base of wood-fiber or go. Plates from other materials are not excluded.

The water mode of wall heating has its advantages. Unlike electric heating, in the summer, in the heat, it serves to cool the room, replacing the air conditioner.

Modern cable heating system

Electric heating using electric cables is considered quite economical, although it costs more to pay for electric energy. Heating cables increase the temperature in the room due to the passage of electric current through them.

The following elements are included in the cable heating system:

  • Single or two-core heating cables or not too thick heating planes on which the cables are placed.
  • Automation that regulates the process of turning on, heating and stopping the supply of heat.
  • Installation strip, corrugated pipe.
  • Automation to turn off the system.

The installation of cable heating with plaster coating is done similarly to the installation of a water heating system. The electric cable is placed at an arbitrary distance from its subsequent bends, and is not placed where furniture and appliances will stand. It is attached with the help of installation devices.

  • When installing warm electric walls, it is worthwhile to put insulation material, although this is not necessary. The main concern during the installation of the planes is not to make a mistake when cutting them according to the indicated markings. The temperature sensor is not recommended to be installed near the floor. It is better to place it inside a corrugated pipe.
  • Plastering the wall is recommended when the equipment is turned off, and it is better to start using the system after a month.
  • A skeleton is installed under the slabs or enclosing panels. Then, cable planes are mounted on the wall, devices are installed that provide the means of heating. The base is covered with plaster.
  • It is worth noting that in addition to the electric cable heating system, a heating device “warm baseboard, in various versions, is also available. This equipment is installed similarly to the electrical system. The main thing when installing a “warm baseboard” is the installation of automation that determines its operation, in accordance with the instructions. The height of the device is fifteen centimeters, a “baseboard” is attached to the bottom of the walls. As the heat carrier, warm water flowing through the tubes or an electric cable is used. This equipment is effective. Installed parallel to the coldest walls, it fills the room with heated air, the jets of which rise against the wall and create a comfortable microclimate in the apartment. The system does not create air currents that carry dust particles through the housing.

Infrared heating devices

Infrared heating is considered the most modern way of heating a home:

  • Installing its basic elements is simple. The fast speed of solving the problem made this system popular. Planes with fixed graphite rods are placed on the wall in the same way as previous wall heating systems. It is possible to cover with plaster or frame lining. The film version is even easier to mount. It simply sticks to the surface with special glue.
  • But it is worth noting that with film infrared heating systems do not provide for the simultaneous use of steam or heat insulation made of aluminum. In addition, the infrared film web is not coated with plaster. Also, adhesive compositions for tiles are contraindicated to him. Such systems only install a “dry” method of wall covering. Connection according to the instructions.

Work Stages:

  1. Cleaning the surface on which the equipment will be installed.
  2. Laying the heat diffuser.
  3. Casing the surface with the bars needed to install drywall sheets.
  4. Attaching plates to the surface.
  5. Insulation with a special special tool at the edges of cuts.
  6. Installation of the thermoregulation device and thermal sensor.
  7. Checking the functioning of the system.

Electric warm walls make the whole real. And do it yourself. And you have to make a choice and the instruction will help you with this issue.
