Drywall technical solutions

Work with drywall sheets can be carried out in rooms with an air humidity of not more than 60%, with a high humidity indicator, sheets are used on waterproof gypsum, or they are additional protected after installation with various films or glazed tiles on waterproof mastics or adhesives. Wall covering a plasterboard sheet of partitions made of bricks and cinder blocks is made when the humidity of these surfaces does not exceed 8%.
The temperature and humidity in the room during the decoration of the walls should correspond to the conditions of their use. Before facing the walls, all special and construction works must be completed, especially finishing, which include plastering, the installation of cement screeds and others.

In this cladding, gypsum plasterboards (GCR) are used, it is better not to use gypsum fiber sheets. Plasterboard sheets are not glued to lime plaster.
The base for gluing sheets should not interact with frost, rain and other precipitation:

  • GKL fastening, having normal absorbency, is carried out by putties or adhesives of specialized companies.
  • To prevent moisture leakage from the glue, hygroscopic walls that can absorb moisture are treated with primers.
  • Primers are also used to increase the adhesion of walls. Consultants-sellers of specialized construction stores give the necessary advice. The price depends on the manufacturers of materials, it can be both domestic and foreign firms.
  • The technology of three options for gluing sheets has been developed, depending on the unevenness of the walls.
  • The roughness is less than 4 mm, then the drywall sheets are glued immediately to the walls with gypsum putty. It is applied with longitudinal beds, a thin layer around the perimeter and center.
  • The unevenness of the base is in the range of 4-20 mm, here it is necessary to switch to the adhesive method, which is applied in heaps every 30-35 cm, also around the perimeter and in the middle.
  • Surfaces with irregularities of 20–40 mm require a combined approach. The plasterboard strips with a width of 100 mm are pre-fixed with glue, and then the plasterboard sheet is glued to them with putty.

Attention: The places of fastening of heavy objects - window and door lintels, the spaces behind the sinks and kitchen sinks are glued with plates over the entire surface, and not pointwise.

  • Installation of the cladding is carried out before laying the finish coating on the floor. The air temperature should not be lower than 10ᵒС in the room.
    Sheets must be laid there for at least 2-3 days before installation. Sheets are cut at a given height, their joining is possible, but not desirable.

  • To strengthen and increase the reliability of the structure, the vertical racks are fastened together by cross members from the same profiles, using additional “crab” products, sometimes they are replaced by masters with cut profiles.
  • All that remains is the installation of drywall and its fastening by itself with hardened steel cuts, which can not be confused with others by their black color.
  • Places of neatly and carefully implanted fixtures in the sheets and their joints are putty.
  • Facing walls with drywall on the profiles can be considered complete.
