The texture of the plaster is selected according to the selected pattern. Plaster textured video will help you cope with this task. After the selection, it is necessary to select the material for application.

Here it will be necessary to think. After all, the compositions are different and you need to choose the most optimal option.

Making a choice of dry plaster

Types of textured plaster are divided by their composition. The video in this article will show their varieties.

But first of all, there are two main types, and the choice in the first place should be done precisely on them:

For outdoor surfacesThis option has a larger grain size. It tolerates temperature extremes and high humidity. It is mainly made on a cement basis.
For interior surfacesHere the texture will be finer and, accordingly, the plane can be made completely smooth. But this material does not tolerate high moisture.

Attention: Before buying, the instructions should be studied, pay attention to what temperatures the material tolerates.

It is also worth watching a video of textured plasters, because you need to choose a picture that will fit into the interior. Everything can be done completely with your own hands, then the final price will not be high.

Plane alignment

The surface is leveled in two options. Is it just applying a layer of plaster or installing drywall (see Gypsum plasterboard technology: installation methods) Here you need to choose the most suitable option.

Plane alignment with drywall

Factory drywall is used only as a wall covering in the room itself. Due to the size and a number of other characteristics, it is possible to perform work quickly and without loss of quality.

In the repair work, a zinc-coated profile is used, fixed to the walls with the use of special holders.

When installing a profile, the dimensions of the sheets are important. Drywall is fixed with self-tapping screws. Joints and fastenings are smoothed with putty and then cleaned (see How to putty drywall joints according to technology) To complete the alignment use grinding tools.

Pros:

  • Work is fast. The effectiveness of the final result directly depends on the ease of installation and lack of moisture.
  • The performer may be inexperienced. Ease of installation and high quality indicators of building materials make it possible not to splurge on professionals.
  • Partitions and multi-storey surfaces are easily mounted due to the design of profiles and fastenings of drywall sheets - internal partitions can be mounted in the absence of walls.

Minuses:

  • Predisposition to the influence of weather conditions.
  • There may be a lack of reliability.

“Wet” plaster exists both standard and decorative

Standard acts as a leveling material. As a rule, with its help prepare various surfaces for applying textured material.

If you need a special relief corresponding to the design of the building, apply monolithic decorative plaster.

Decorative cladding is divided into types according to the appearance of the initial result and the composition of the mixture:

  • Lime Binderused for a long time. To prepare the solution, make a mixture of milk of lime and coarse river sand.
  • Acrylic appreciated by good adhesion to the surface, flexible and resistant to weather conditions. It is used when working with old coatings.
  • It is possible to add polymer elements to the solution.. This creates a well-permeable coating with enhanced mechanical properties.
  • Silicone resins used in conditions of intense exposure of all types. Coatings with silicone additives do not rot.

Methods for applying textured material

Textured plaster is applied to the prepared plane. There are several options for adding texture. Sometimes a layer is simply applied and then the desired texture is applied.

Sometimes the application of the material is done in layers. Here you need to choose the most acceptable way.

Monolithic plaster

When a plaster solution is applied to the surface to smooth, bring to the desired color and give the desired appearance, a monolithic method is used. The result is a reliable layer that is resistant to all types of damage.

Pros:

  • The method can be applied everywhere
  • Long service
  • Easy to apply. The work can be done by a beginner.

Minuses:

  • High weight designs
  • Work is delayed due to the mandatory drying of the layers
  • High cost

Acrylic plaster

This type is based on acrylic, quartz sand and dye. Often such plasters can be found in the form of a finished mixture with high ductility.

Acrylic textured plaster

  • Textured acrylic plaster is quite reliable. Moreover, it is resistant to deformation.
  • Such coatings are indispensable for covering various openings and walls in rooms.
  • To decorate the front of buildings, color coating is used along with a variety of technologies that create various beneficial effects. Bark beetle (see Decorative plaster bark beetle: material features) and "pebble" - the most famous of them.

Attention: There is also a significant drawback. It ignites quite quickly. Therefore, near an open fire it does not cost.

Stone plaster

If you want to create a stone texture, then start with the marks of the stone rows on the already prepared wall.

Example of stone plaster

  • Marking tools (in particular - with a cord) mark the required position of the seams. Then, when the seams are marked, proceed to the application of plaster.
  • As soon as the mixture sets, the seams are “cut”, thereby creating the texture of a stone wall. According to the marks, using a thin steel plate, the solution that is not completely seized is removed, creating a depression in a third of the total layer thickness.
  • The solution of stone plaster contains stone chips. Most often, granite and / or marble (see Facade stucco with marble chips: types, features, application methods) This solution is used as a decorative treatment of foundations and related elements.

Terrazite plaster

Terrazite mixtures are used if you want to create an imitation of rock:

  • Since this plaster is not light, the walls are prepared for cladding. On a barely grasped preparatory layer create a grid in the form of waves, small grooves. Furrows are made with any tool that fits, placing them horizontally, indenting 3-5 cm.
  • More serious tools - a hammer and a chisel - are used to create a relief on a concrete surface. This is necessary to create notches that provide easy adhesion of the plaster to the treated surface.

Caution: The solution contains slaked lime, mica and cement. The role of the filler is played by quartz sand, stone chips.

  • Moisturize before applying the surface. Processing consists of two steps.First, the surface is sprayed and after about 20 minutes, the main layer begins to be applied. Then, using cycling, process the lining. The final result is smooth and sparkles.
  • If there is a need to create a chipped stone effect, then shock-cutting tools are used. A sandblasting machine is used for finishing.

Sgraffito

This is such a plaster on which a relief pattern is created:

  • To create a coating of this kind, several layers of different colors are applied, then some of their parts are removed, obtaining a relief.
  • When applying the layers, they are carefully leveled and compacted. More than five layers are usually made to improve coating strength.
  • After applying all the layers, a pattern is applied to the surface using a stencil. For this, pigmented powders wrapped in gauze are used. When the drawing is successfully placed, begin to choose a solution. Different types of cutters along the contour, and then in the right place in the picture, carefully remove the layers. The master of decorative plaster can create real masterpieces using the described method.
  • In short, the described method fits perfectly into any architectural style and is a regular counter-relief.

Venetian plaster

This type of coating contains acrylic and limestone, as well as marble dust:

  • The idea of the method is to apply a large number of thin layers, which creates an unusual texture.
  • Externally, this coating creates the effect of depth and glow when light falls on it, and the light is reflected at different depths.
  • The process is time-consuming, divided into many layers and stages, among which there is ironing and polishing of each individual layer. For such work, it is advisable to have experience and the means to purchase expensive materials. If the finish is done correctly and by the hands of the master of decorative plaster, the result will be a half-centimeter thick lining, environmentally friendly and pleasing to the eye, with the effect of a pearly glow.

There are different types of textured plasters; there is plenty to choose from. Paint for textured plaster can be applied on top, it must also be picked up and you can read on this topic on our website. So look at the photo and select the desired material option.
