Classic panel design
The wall panel, made of wood or laminated particleboard, has a square or rectangular shape, a pronounced wood pattern and a certain geometric relief. It is such panels that we have long been accustomed to see in various offices (seeModern design and office decoration), offices and rooms decorated in a classic style.
So:
- The impeccably elegant and austere appearance of such panels only contributed to the growth of their popularity. Wood panels have long moved from classrooms to living quarters.
- They decorate the lobby, corridors, living rooms, while often combining with wallpaper decoration or decorative plaster. Wooden panels, with the same success, are mounted on the ceiling.
- This decor is used not only in the classical style. When decorating the premises in architectural styles such as English, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, wall paneling from wood is also often used.
In this case, their shape may differ from the one we presented above.
- Since the price of panels made of solid wood is quite high, manufacturers offer us a lot of options from MDF coated with veneer of valuable wood species.
- Veneered wall coverings for interior decoration have even more design options than solid wood panels. This is due to the fact that the veneer can be not only different in color and pattern, but also applied with a certain relief.
The photo below is a good example of such a design.
- Moreover, the veneer on such panels can be not only wood, but also cork or bamboo. There are decorative options when the inside of the panel is draped with fabric.
- In the Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles, just such panels are used, as well as decorative carved panels made of wood, which are usually made to order.
- There are also stacked rack panels, the front side of which is similar to the surface sheathed with a clapboard. Most often, the bottom layer of typesetting panels is made of cheaper wood: pine, spruce, birch.
The top layer is made from precious woods such as oak, walnut, cedar. This allows you to reduce the cost of products, and make them more accessible to a wide segment of the population.
Modern types of panels
Wall decoration wooden wall panels can be made in the bathroom. To do this, make options having a wax coating.
Moreover, not only from the front side. Wax process all connecting ridges and grooves.
- Such panels can have a board configuration of up to three meters in length, with a width of 20 cm, and can be mounted in the same way as an ordinary lining board on a frame made of a metal profile. Manufacturer's instructions for installation and care of the coating are usually included with the purchase of the material.
- The surface of the tree, covered with natural oils and colored wax, looks very attractive, pleasant to the touch. In addition, wax, impregnating the top layer of wood, creates a film that protects the panel not only from moisture, but also from abrasion.
- Such panels breathe, retain heat, which allows you to maintain a healthy microclimate in the room. Their only minus is a rather high cost, so they are still more often used in living rooms or offices than in bathrooms.
- To finish the bathroom, an unheated veranda, or the lobby of the house, laminated panels based on OSB boards are ideal. This is a type of chipboard, the binder of which are polymer resins.
The front side of such panels is covered with a laminate with a wood pattern.
- Panels made entirely of polymers are used not only for those rooms that we just talked about. They can still participate in the facade cladding.
Plastic wall panels, both in appearance and in strength, differ from the usual sandwich panels, which are usually used in budget repairs of balconies and bathrooms (seeBathroom decoration: wall decoration options) In addition, they are fire resistant. - By configuration, polymer panels are also completely different. Various methods of decorating their surface.
In addition to lamination, the pattern on them can be applied by offset printing, and coated with varnish that protects it from ultraviolet rays. - To create beautiful angular joints, in accordance with the color scheme of the panels, universal angles are produced.
- Polymers are also used in the production of 3D panels. They have a voluminous surface with a diverse relief, a wide color gamut, and are used mainly in the interior design of public institutions: halls, lobbies, corridors and recreations.
By the way, in such rooms metal facade panels with relief and polymer coating can also be used.
In residential premises it is better not to use such panels - they can emit toxic substances. Below we will give you examples of decoration with 3D effect wall panels made from environmentally friendly materials.
And there are also a lot of them, which makes it possible to carry out an interesting and unique interior design.
Eco panels
In the production of bulk eco-panels, raw materials of only plant origin are used: wood chips, bamboo, straw, reed. Polymer resins are not used in their production, for which reason these products deserve the "eco" prefix.
So:
- Volumetric panels have a beautiful relief and are used in the design of rooms selectively to create an emphasis on one wall, ceiling or, for example, a decorative niche. This decor is usually accompanied by neon or spot lights, which immediately attracts the eye to the relief.
- Eco panels made of bamboo in the interior may look very different than in the picture above. As you can see, the following example shows a completely different version of 3D wall design.
- Large-format bamboo panels and small-format mirror tiles combine wonderfully. Artistic parquet and beautiful chandeliers, reflected in the mirror surface, make the living room simply magnificent.
- Volumetric eco panels are also made of gypsum. In appearance, they resemble the above version of bamboo, they can also be painted.
The advantage of gypsum panels in price. Plaster is more accessible material for us than overseas bamboo.
Therefore, the panels made from it are much cheaper. - What is important, having a silicone form, gypsum tiles or panels can be made at home.Who cares how this is done, watch the video, look for articles on the topic.
- But if you want to decorate the wall in your house with such panels of gypsum panels, as in the example above, you still have to go to the workshop. After all, here is not just a relief, but a whole three-dimensional picture, the painting of which is done only by hand.
- The next version of environmentally friendly wall coverings that we would like to tell you about is felt panels. Their surface looks like velor, they are soft, resistant to mechanical damage, hold heat well, and isolate sound.
- They are made either from natural felt on a cardboard basis, or from foam, based on foam. Such a coating can be either rolled or in the form of a panel.
Moreover, the pattern can be not only geometric, but also slotted, or convex - the design of such panels is simply amazing.
- For the manufacture of textile panels, not only felt, but also felt is used. There are technologies that allow you to make such a panel manually - look for information on the Internet if you are interested in this question.
- Of course, continuous wall decoration with such panels is also not performed. They decorate only one, maximum two walls in the room.
You ask: "But how to clean the textile panels?". Yes with an ordinary vacuum cleaner!
- Well, and, perhaps, another type of wall decor, worthy of attention. These are leather panels. For their production they use both genuine leather, as in our example, and artificial.
- The configuration, as, however, and the cost of such a wall coating can be very different. These are small tiles, no larger than ceramic ones.
There are more rectangular slabs that sheathe the entire wall. And there are huge panels: such a size that one is enough for the lining of the head of the double bed.
As you can see, the choice of wall panels is huge, and we have not yet talked about all. Their main task is the ability to quickly wall the wall, avoiding the need for screeds.
Well. Of course, the decor! And the fact that the service life of the panels, of which their variety would not be discussed, is much higher than that of other coatings, can make their choice decisive.
