Someone invites the designer, someone wants to do all the work with their own hands. We think that both of them will find a lot of useful information in our article.
And who knows, maybe it is our instruction that will tell you the option you need.

Think together
So, the general construction work is completed, the interior decoration is ahead. So, you need to select the design methods and purchase finishing materials, but for this you need to know exactly what and how it will be made out.
So:
- If the house is built in a certain architectural style, then the most natural will be to design its interior in the same style. Let's say you have calibrated house.
In this case, the ideas for its decoration need to be drawn in the Scandinavian style, because the timber houses in the northern countries have been built for a long time, and they have rich experience in their design.
- A perfectly flat surface and a beautiful relief of calibrated building wood: not only timber, but also logs, allow you to get a beautiful wall design without using any decorative coatings. Naturally, the price of such a finish will be minimal.
For its implementation, you only need to polish the walls and cover them with paint or varnish. - The main attention should be paid to the ceiling - it is from it that the whole process begins. Before you start decorating, look around, think about what roof structures can be used in the design of the ceiling.
- Do this if your house is one-story, without an attic. The attic, finished in this way, is also a magnificent sight, as, for example, in the photo below.
And what do we see on it?
- In the billiard room, located in the attic floor, a chic suspended ceiling is made, in the construction of which massive load-bearing beams are involved. Between them mounted glazed wooden stained-glass windows with lighting.
- Of course, this is a design option for creating a ceiling structure, which, in this case, is the only decoration in the interior. This is a technique for decorating a room where a magnificent ceiling is combined with a simple wall decoration, typical of the loft style.
- This is exactly how the billiard room is decorated: a simple plank floor, painted brickwork and a ceiling of extraordinary beauty. And since we are talking about the loft style, here is another example of decoration - one that can be done without the participation of a designer.
- As you can see, in the room of a house erected from foam blocks, one wall was left without topcoat. It is decorated with the polished surface of the block masonry with decorative embroidery, covered only with hydrophobic impregnation.
- Here is such a finish, or rather, the lack thereof, and is related to the style of the loft. The most beautiful and expensive decoration of this interior is a marble staircase with an interesting parapet, and a block of the same stone, replacing the table.
- We also see a ceiling trimmed with a standard clapboard (seeCladding the ceiling - all the main "tricks") In the transverse direction, at regular intervals, over the area of the ceiling, bars are mounted that simulate ceiling beams.
In this case, the ceiling is not painted.Although, it can be painted with light paint completely, or highlight the bars in contrast - options can be different.
- A similar design of the wooden ceiling is made on the example where the interior is shown. houses from timber. Only there, a different configuration board was used: "imitation of the beam", as well as hollow polyurethane beams with spot lighting.
In general, decoration and repair of a country house, almost do without the use of wood. And most often, wood or its imitations are used in the design of ceilings.
In the ceiling design you can see not only panels, beams or boards, but also ordinary planed slats. Look at the picture above and see how beautiful it is.
Interior to choose from
The interior decoration of our country houses with wood shows us many variations. Therefore, one way or another, we will touch on this topic throughout the article.
So:
- To relax in the lap of nature, it is required that the interior of the house also corresponds to it as much as possible. For this, in the decoration you need to use only natural materials.
And what is better than a tree corresponds to this honorary title? - Most often, wood is used in the design of ceilings: hemmed, suspended, glass. A beautiful ceiling structure made of wood will give solidity and respectability to any interior.
- Wall decoration in a country house using wood is also not uncommon. This can be a continuous cladding of wall lining, which must be insulated from the inside.
You can make such a casing without insulation. If, for example, a house is made of brick or blocks, and its owner wants the interior to resemble wooden house. - In order to diversify such a design, various techniques are used: the use of boards of different widths and section shapes; mounting boards in different directions; various staining methods.
- In practice, the same can be said about drywall. It also belongs to the category of natural finishing materials.
The flexibility of the gypsum board in the wet state allows it to carry out structures of varying complexity with it, both on the ceiling and on the walls. Often, drywall and wood are used in combination, and several of these examples we will give you below. - And again, our eye is attracted by an interesting ceiling design made in two levels. The first level is the base ceiling, hemmed by lining.
The second level is made of drywall. In harmony with the ceiling, parquet flooring is also tiled.
The walls, in relation to them, are trimmed neutral to emphasize the ceiling. - If we talk about drywall, it is impossible not to mention that with its help you can plan the interior space of a large room, as well as perform a decorative overhead partition: curly, or with a niche. Indeed, the house has many rooms, and each of them requires its own approach to interior decoration.
- Take at least a bedroom. In its decoration, wood is not used so often. But drywall is more appropriate here.
The decorative niches that we just mentioned are most often performed in the bedroom, at the head of the bed. - Often, such niches are decorated with photo wallpaper: ordinary or with a 3D effect. This is very beautiful, and our next example eloquently proves the truth of these words.
- What are the niches, and what decor is most suitable for them, you can find out from the article on our website. Read, watch the video - this information will be useful to you not only when decorating a city apartment, but also country house, and office.
The interior decoration of the walls of a country house, the installation of partitions and niches in its rooms, can be performed in the same ways. - If we are talking about the bedroom, we will tell you about one more, purely decorative material, which is most often used in the bedrooms. These are leather panels.
Today they are very popular, and are used to create an emphasis on one wall of a room. In the bedroom, this is usually a wall at the head of the bed.
- In our example, the entire wall is lined with leather panels. But it can be done differently.
Take one large panel, and, having made a niche in the head of the bed, mount this panel there. In another embodiment, it may be a small headboard covering of the head of the bed. - Where drywall is used in decoration, wallpaper is almost always used. Still, the options for interior decoration of a country house, with wall decoration with wallpaper, are much more numerous, thanks to their unimaginably huge assortment.
- Of course, finishing with wallpaper is also done on walls lined with a “wet” method. Basically, it is used in brick houses, the insulation of the walls of which is carried out from the side of the facade.
If the facade, for example, is plastered, then the walls need to be insulated from the inside. And this, again, is drywall - it is mounted on the frame, in the cells of which the insulation is laid. - Block walls made of cellular concrete also do not like wet processes, and it is easiest to level them with dry plaster, as GKL sheets have long been called. And at the same time, if necessary, and insulate.
In general, no matter how the walls are aligned. It is important how they will be decorated.
- On our site there are many articles on design, using various types of wallpapers, as well as their combinations with other types of materials. Here and in our example above, the upper part of the walls is papered.
- Black panels are mounted on the lower perimeter, and wide ceiling moldings match their tone. Tall windows on the floor, and many indoor plants, coupled with this wall decoration, give out the interior belonging to the Provence style.
- Speaking of style. Quite often, the rooms in the house are decorated in different styles.
In any case, those located on different floors. Why not?
In urban apartments, for example, designers recommend doing just that: each room has its own style.
- Our country is multinational, and where there is a mixture of cultures, there is a mixture of styles. A Russian person may well like Japanese or English architectural style.
Many people also like oriental traditions in the design of rooms: with their lancet windows and niches, mosaic panels and decorative plaster. - As for decorative plaster, this is the best option for decorating the walls inside the house, the insulation of which will be carried out in the process of decorating the facade. This does not mean that all rooms should be decorated in this way, but such a design is the place in the lobby or living room.
- Moreover, there are many varieties of decorative plasters. Using them, it is possible to carry out any relief on the walls, get an unusual texture or, say, create a chic panel with paintings.
This is not a way to decorate a room that you can do yourself. Here we need a specialist - an artist who not only knows how to work with this material, but can come to work creatively, create a unique, one-of-a-kind drawing.
This is what happens with Venetian plaster - the most complex, and from this the most expensive type of wall decoration.
Unusual bathroom
Various finishes of a country house include not only the interiors of living rooms, living rooms and corridors - do not forget about the bathrooms.
So:
- Everything is clear with the toilet. The main thing here is that everything is reliable, soundly and hygienically.
Whether it's a bathroom! It is there that we can relax as much as possible, get a charge of vivacity and good mood. - The bathroom in a country house is not at all what we have in city apartments. Spacious rooms with windows and high ceilings make it possible for unlimited flight of imagination.
- In window niches they usually arrange a couch, or a desk with bookshelves at the ends. In our example, in a niche, near the window, we placed a bath.
It may seem difficult to fulfill such a niche, but it is not. Gypsum-fiber sheets will help you in her device. - They are similar to drywall, but have a completely different structure, without a cardboard cover. GVL is much more durable than conventional drywall, so when erecting working partitions and niches, they use it.
- Well, you can decorate the surface of the niche as you like: under the stone, as in our case, under the brickwork, revetted with ceramic mosaic - there are a lot of options. Let us introduce you another version of the extraordinary bathroom.
- Here, the suspended ceiling was made not over the entire area of the room, but with an indent from the far wall. This wall, which has a bathtub, is pasted with photo wallpaper with a 3D effect.
- The bright illumination of the wall creates the complete impression that the bathtub is standing in the sunlit courtyard. No more decorating methods are used in this interior.
But this is not necessary - the design of the bathroom turned out to be original.
From all the above, we can conclude that to create an interesting design you can use the most ordinary materials. You just need to figure out how to best fit them into a particular design.
