Finishing work on the balcony or loggia should be considered comprehensively, taking into account the quality of the outer cladding, the presence of glazing, thermal insulation of the walls. Of course, you can finish the wall of the balcony, which has only a metal fence as a parapet, but such a finish will not please for a long time.
You just get tired of cleaning the balcony from dust.
Therefore, talking about how to decorate the balcony inside with your own hands is possible only if it is at least glazed. And if at the same time its outer lining was made, and even with insulation - you can immediately proceed to the internal decoration.
In our article, we will talk about what decoration inside the balcony can be done in the most affordable ways, using the most common materials.

Finishing a non-insulated balcony

The balcony, as a rule, has rather modest dimensions in comparison with the loggia, and even more so with the terrace. Therefore, to arrange a room on a small balcony is almost impossible.
Few insulate such balconies, but the question of their decorative decoration inevitably arises.

Brick wall finish

So:

  • The simplest thing is to use basic brickwork for decoration, if you, of course, live in a brick house. In this case, plastering can be dispensed with - all efforts will be directed towards achieving maximum smoothness of the brick surface.

  • To do this, you need a metal brush and two types of sandpaper: coarse and fine. First, with a brush, you need to clean the wall from the particles of the solution, which inevitably falls on it during masonry work.
Then the brick surface is sanded and ground.
  • If there are small bumps and chips of bricks on the surface of the wall, they must be puttied, and after the putty dries, the penetrating compound “concrete contact” must be treated and allowed to dry.

  • Then it remains only to paint the wall. Modern water-dispersion paints have antifungal protection, so worrying that the walls are covered with mold is not worth it.
In the same way, you can make a ceiling by taking a lighter color for this, or the same, but with the joints trimmed with a contrasting ceiling skirting.
Combined balcony decoration

If there is no brickwork on the parapet, it can be sheathed with plastic or siding panels.
Such a combined decoration of the internal balconies always looks better than monotonous. It will look something like the photo.

Floor device

After the walls and ceiling are finished, you just have to make the floor.
And there are several options:

  • If you want to lay ceramic tiles, the concrete base also needs to be cleaned and primed. You can lay the tiles on the mortar mixed with tile glue, during the course of work, leveling.
  • Most often, the floor level on the balcony is much lower than the floor mark in the apartment, so you have to step over a high threshold, which is not very convenient. Wanting to make the floor taller, you need to go the other way.
  • Take wooden blocks with a slightly smaller cross section than the amount by which you need to raise the floor. In the resulting cells, lay any tile insulation, for example polystyrene, and cover it with a plastic film.
Polyfoam will not only insulate the floor, but will also absorb sounds when walking on it.
  • A plank floor is laid on such a crate, which can then be covered with linoleum, or simply painted. But if you take into account that both the board, and especially the foam plastic, are very combustible materials, it is better to use expanded clay as a filling for the cells of the crate.
Its cheap price allows you to do this. You can also take polystyrene foam chips.
  • Before you fill in expanded clay, the concrete base is covered with a plastic film. Cells filled with bulk insulation are poured with liquid cement mortar, and a reinforcing metal mesh is laid on top.
  • When the solution dries, you will get a strong and warm expanded clay concrete base, on top of which a leveling screed is made. The easiest way to buy a special dry composition, which is called self-leveling.

  • As the instructions on the packaging prescribe, it is mixed with water and simply poured onto the base of the floor, spreading over the surface with a special roller. This solution is leveled on its own, which is why it got its name.
Such a screed dries quite quickly, no more than a day. Naturally, such a floor can be done not only on the balcony, but also on the loggia.

Now it will be possible to produce absolutely any finishing finish on the floor: to lay tile, laminate, parquet, linoleum - that's all you want. That, in fact, is the entire interior decoration of the balcony.

Frame cladding of a loggia or balcony

On a non-insulated balcony, only moisture-resistant materials should be used: facade plaster, plastic, siding panels. The last two options have a simpler technology for the production of work, and here we will talk about them.
So:

  • Finishing the balcony from the inside with plastic is already a classic option for those who do not need a special design, and most importantly, to be cheap, clean and practical. In this sense, there is no equal to plastic.
He is not afraid of either water, or ultraviolet radiation, or the temperature changes that regularly occur on an unheated balcony.

  • The design of the room, which is sheathed with plastic panels, is solved by selecting the right colors, and using various decorative corners and moldings.
In addition, plastic is used in various combinations with other materials. With its help, and finishing windows from the inside, or rather, window slopes and doorways.
  • Wall lining is performed on a wooden crate made of beams with a small cross section. Similarly, surface cladding is made with plastic or wooden lining.
All of them are interconnected by a tongue-and-groove method.
  • If you want to do this work yourself, watch the video “interior decoration of the loggia with plastic panels” by typing this phrase in the search line.
  • The use of a wooden board differs from the lining of a plastic lining only in that it requires a finish. Namely: the tree requires antiseptic treatment and opening with varnish or stain.

  • There are many lovers of such an interior, when not only the walls are sheathed with wood, but also the ceiling, and even the floor. Such a balcony strongly resembles a wooden box, and in order to avoid this monotony, you need to come up with some detail that will dilute it and attract attention to yourself.

  • And here is a good example of how to achieve this: the window panes were simply beautifully decorated like a stained glass window. This can be done by applying a paint pattern to the glass, or you can use a special self-adhesive film.
  • The siding finish of the balconies inside can also be done on a wooden frame, especially if not aluminum, but vinyl panels are used. The siding fastening system and its configuration is somewhat different from plastic panels.

  • The first panel is nailed to the beam, and each subsequent one is connected to the previous one, with the latch provided by their design. To decorate the joints of surfaces, complete with siding sold internal and external corners, various profiles.

The method of frame sheathing is very convenient when warming and finishing inside balconies are performed. In this case, a heater is placed in the cells of the frame, and then covered with panels.
You can find out all the details of such insulation by reading an article on the relevant topic.

Design of insulated loggias

When it comes to insulated loggias, their decoration can be performed with completely different materials used in any living room of the apartment. And this applies not only to walls, but also to ceiling structures.
In this part of the article we will introduce you to some options for decorating the loggia: interior decoration of walls and ceilings, color schemes of the interior.
So:

  • To provide the walls with a flat surface, they need to be leveled either by the plastering method, or by frame sheathing with drywall sheets or cement-bonded particleboards. Alignment details are a completely different topic, and we'll talk about decorative finishes.
  • By and large, when all the interior details and color combinations are well thought out, there is not much difference in what material the walls will be finished. Look at the loggia presented in our example: a plain matte stretch ceiling and painted walls.

  • And there seems to be nothing remarkable in the decoration itself, but what an unusual color of the walls was chosen - coffee with milk!
The room is conceived as a recreation area, the decoration of which is a large number of indoor plants in clay pots. Furniture and blinds were selected in the color of clay, and even a window sill with a radiator grille was painted.
  • In our next example, the decoration of the balcony inside, spacious and insulated, is made of drywall: both the walls and the suspended ceiling. The main color in this interior is white.
Only one end wall is painted in orange. On the ceiling there is an interesting neon lighting, a beautifully decorated window sill, and a table with the same tabletop. Everything is simple, but with taste.

  • Using drywall, you can perform not only a suspended ceiling, or sheathe walls, from it you can create various partitions and curved structures.
Look at the original wall with shelves made on this loggia. And lining it with a decorative stone is already a matter of technology.
Decorative rock

  • Speaking of stone, the interior decoration of loggias and balconies is very often performed with his participation. It is mainly used for fragmented wall decoration, creating panels, cladding openings and arches.
  • If the room is not heated, it is better to use the stone either natural or artificial - but not on a gypsum basis, but on a cement one. You can imitate masonry or brickwork with flexible acrylic tiles.
  • We already mentioned that the decoration of the balcony inside looks good when different types of materials are used. And here is an example: the parapet and the window sill of the wall are faced with a light laminate, with the same success it can be MDF, and plastic.
Plastic and stone

  • The rest of the walls and the ceiling are plastered, but painted in different colors, and a fragmentary decoration of the wall with stone is performed. Indoor flowers complete the interior, very beautiful, and all in different pots.
The result was a very cozy balcony.
  • Various types of decorative plasters fit very well in such interiors. This can be both pigmented and structural compositions, obtained by adding marble, quartz or granite chips to the solution.
Even ordinary plaster can be painted using a special tool - the interior decoration of the loggias only benefits from such wall decoration.

  • An excellent solution would be to use a soft decorative plaster called liquid wallpaper. If you use them according to the same principle that was mentioned above, that is, combine them with other material, you will get a wonderful interior, as in the picture below.
  • In design projects, bamboo is often used for wall decoration. And not only walls: it can be flooring, and ceiling panels with bamboo veneer, and interior elements, and even furniture.
A vivid confirmation of this fact is this photo.

As you can see, the loggia can be finished no worse than the living room. We have given many examples from which you can benefit by deciding on the arrangement of this room.
It remains only to wish you the successful implementation of your ideas and wishes.
