Wall plastering machine
Surface plastering is the finishing step that is necessary to level the base and mask defects. The material is applied in two ways - manual and machine. The second option is preferable if a building base of a large area is being processed. Machine wall plaster has other advantages over the manual method of applying the material. For this reason, finishers prefer this particular method.

What is machine plaster?
Machine wall plastering - application of material using a special station. The unit is equipped with a tank for receiving dry product. Water is supplied here from the central water supply and the plaster is kneaded. Next, the solution is supplied to the surface using a hose. The master evenly distributes the composition to the base. Then the plasterer levels the solution and performs the appropriate manipulations.
Manual or machine plastering: which is better?
Machine plastering of walls is carried out inside and outside the room. This method of applying the material allows you to process a large area of the construction base in a short period of time. Finishing takes half an hour, but the consistency of the solution affects the speed. The thicker the material, the more time it takes to finish.
Manual application of the composition involves the preparation of the solution in small portions, since the tool quickly hardens. Because of this, the application of the material takes place in several stages. As a result, part of the surface was processed, and the composition froze, while the other did not. This causes cracks at the docking point after the solution dries. During machine processing, such problems do not arise, since the material is applied immediately to the entire construction base in a short period of time, which prevents uneven drying. This will provide a better finish and prevent cracking of the plaster.
Material consumption is greater with manual application of the product. This is because during the mixing of the solution in the machine, the product is saturated with oxygen. This increases the volume of the composition and reduces the consumption of the product.
The advantages of the machine method of applying plaster over the manual method are undeniable, however, they are relevant if you need to process an area of more than 1000 m2. In other cases, the purchase or rental of the unit is impractical.
Equipment
To apply the material in this way you will need a special machine for plastering walls. Experts recommend choosing a small unit with wide functionality. If a global restoration is planned, then you need a machine that fits various types of plaster. Some units are equipped with the function of arranging bulk floors. It is also recommended to consider this when choosing a device.
Which mixtures are suitable?
Plastering walls by machine, as shown in the video tutorials, is performed by special compositions. The packaging must bear the label “for machine application”. Other compounds will not work, as they will clog into the details of the device and eventually become the cause of damage.
For plastering, finished products and dry mixes are used. In this case, you can use the compositions in need of preparation. The device will make a solution of a homogeneous consistency, saturated with oxygen. The dry composition has a more reasonable price compared to the finished product. For these reasons, craftsmen prefer to purchase material in paper bags.
Cement-sand composition
Cement-sand mixture is used for plastering the facade and walls inside the building, including in rooms with high humidity - bathrooms, pools, kitchens and others.
Advantages of the material:
- moisture resistance;
- increased strength;
- resistance to temperature extremes;
- long operational period.
The disadvantages of cement-sand compositions:
- long drying period;
- shrinkage;
- requires puttying.
Gypsum plaster
Such material is used only in dry rooms. The tool absorbs moisture and this is the main disadvantage of the product.
Advantages of gypsum plaster:
- vapor permeability, which allows air to circulate and prevents the formation of mold and fungus under the finish;
- short drying period;
- resistance to mechanical damage;
- economical consumption;
- lack of shrinkage;
- can be applied in a thick layer, without fear of cracking;
- after hardening it is not necessary to putty.
Advantages of the machine plastering method
Machine wall plaster has the following advantages:
- high speed finishing;
- proper distribution of the material guarantees high quality plastering;
- high-quality preparation of a solution of the desired consistency and without lumps;
- economical consumption of material;
- uniform drying of the product prevents the formation of defects on the surface.
Disadvantages of automated application of material
Disadvantages of machine plastering:
- the high cost of the apparatus itself, the rental and services of the brigade of craftsmen performing the decoration;
- the use of the unit requires a special skill.
Fans who do the finishing with their own hands are advised to opt for the manual method of applying the material if it is necessary to plaster the room with a small area. For areas of more than 1000 m2, it is recommended to hire a team of professionals or rent a unit, but carefully familiarize yourself with the technique of use.
The technology of plastering walls by machine
Building foundation preparation
As shown in the video, the plastering of the walls with a machine starts in the same way as the finishing with a manual method - with the preparation of the building foundation. The old coating is removed, and surface protrusions of more than 1 cm are cut off by a grinder or grinder. If there are metal parts on the walls that cannot be removed, the elements are coated with anti-corrosion agents.
The surface is tapped with a hammer. This allows you to identify unreliable elements of the wall. If any are found, then the material is removed, and the defect is expanded and deepened. Then the recesses are primed and sealed with a cement mixture of a thick consistency.
The construction base is degreased and dust free. After this, the primer is applied in two layers with a break for drying.
On the surface exhibit beacons. The guides are first fixed on both sides of the wall, and then fastened around the entire perimeter at a distance less than the length of the rule.
Equipment setup
The machine for wall plastering does not need adjustment. The factory exhibited installations that are not recommended to be knocked down. The machine itself selects the ratio of water to dry material. All that is required from the master is to fill the material into the bell and connect the unit to the water supply. Each device is accompanied by an instruction, which is recommended to carefully study before starting work.
Material application
Algorithm for applying plaster by machine:
- Move away from the wall at a distance of 0.3 measure. Take the gun in your hands and hold so that the stream and base form an angle of 90 degrees. Open the air valve.
- Work the corners by moving the gun from the bottom up. Then carry the composition to the walls. In this case, move the gun from bottom to top and from side to side so that the material lies evenly.
Leveling Composition
Level the material until it hardens. It is recommended to do this in the first half hour after applying the composition. After that, the product will dry out and the product will not level out.
To distribute the material, use the rule (as in the photo below). Press the tool against the guides and swipe upwards. If voids have formed after this, fill the imperfections with the solution and smooth the material with a spatula.
Material cutting
Use a trapezoidal cutter to cut the putty. It is recommended to perform work 20 minutes after leveling the material. Cut irregularities that rise above the surface by more than 3 mm. Identify irregularities will help the rule. Set the tool up the wall, press and drag down. If the rule has ceased to move freely, then there is a ledge in this place. Cut off the detected defect. Next, smooth the surface with a construction grater to finally level the base.
Putty application
When the plaster has dried, primer the material. It is recommended to do double application with a break for drying. Next, putty on the wall. Use a narrow and wide spatula for this. Using the first tool, lay the material on a wide spatula, and then distribute the composition over the surface. Layer thickness - 1 mm. After applying the product, wait for the product to dry, clean the surface, apply the primer and proceed to the finish.
In the video in this article, the wizard shows how to properly perform machine plastering.
Machine wall plastering is a quick and easy way to apply material. However, this method requires certain skills in construction. For this reason, it is recommended to invite professionals for decoration or carefully read the instructions.
