Work Execution Rules
How to putty drywall seams or the plane is decided at the place of work and the quality of the plane. It should be noted here that if you need to apply a layer of more than one cm, then this is done in several stages and only after the preliminary material has completely dried.
How to prepare a plasterboard ceiling
The opinion that the installed drywall sheets are ready for putty is erroneous. So, if the drywall itself is even, then self-tapping screws, which protrude even by a fraction of a millimeter, will become a serious obstacle to the putty lying smoothly and beautifully.
How to putty the joints of drywall and the entire plane will now be examined in more detail:
- So that the putty rests exactly on plasterboard ceiling, the self-tapping screw head must be recessed about half a millimeter, which is the most optimal position for the self-tapping screw, which allows the spatula to pass freely without aiming for the cap. At the same time, the drywall sheet will also be held firmly in place.
- To putty the joints between sheets of drywall well, you can use several options. First of all, you can close up the seams with sticky perforated tape - sickle.
Attention: Some masters first put a layer of putty, after which such a mesh is glued. But this is not entirely correct, since the sickle will best stick on the surface of the drywall sheet. After such an adhesive tape is pasted, it must be covered with a layer of putty.
- Another option for closing seams between drywall sheets is the use of a fugenfueller, which can be independently prepared from a mixture of Knauf, as the most common and showing good results.
- Thus, the main methods for sealing joints between sheets of drywall are the use of sickles, as well as special mixtures intended for such purposes. At the same time, there are quite a few other ways.
Such as gluing with paper, the use of PVA glue, the use of tile glue, plastic bags, etc. - In addition to sealing the joints between the drywall sheets, it is also necessary to repair the places where the screws go, using a fugenfueller or finishing putty mixture.
- After the seams and joints are sealed, it is necessary to allow them to dry. As a rule, a day will be enough for this.
Next, you need to cover the ceiling with a primer layer, which should also completely dry. A feature of how the primer dries is the speed of this process. So that the primer is completely dry, about 4 hours is enough. - Some masters first apply a layer of drywall on drywall sheets, and only then finish putty. This sequence is not entirely correct, since the primary mixture is intended to prepare smaller satengips.
Regarding the drywall sheets, it should be noted that there is already a base for which no additional putty is needed.
Features of the preparation of putty mixture
Before considering the question of the proper filling of a plasterboard ceiling, it is necessary to learn how to make a putty solution.
So:
- First of all, it is necessary to purchase a specialized rubber bucket so that it cannot be broken with the mixer. Any galvanized metal container can also be used.
- First you need to fill in a bucket about 1/3 of the water, and then fill in the putty mixture, stirring it with a mixer to such a consistency that the mixture is not very thick, like a liquid mashed potato.
Attention: To get the solution mixed to the end, he needs to infuse for 5 minutes. After that, you need to beat it again. Over the past five minutes, the lumps become soaked, and the mixture turns out to be plastic and supple.
- As a tip, it can also be noted that in the event that a full bucket is obtained so that the mixture is not sprayed in all directions, the reverse of the drill must be switched to the other side. Then the whisk will rotate counterclockwise and will not spray the mixture.
Filling rules for plasterboard ceiling
To impose a mixture on ceiling plasterboard sheets, the use of a long spatula or the same is necessary.
So:
- Putty on the frying pan or putty knife with a smaller putty knife. In this case, the solution should be distributed throughout the spatula.
Next, the putty is applied to the plasterboard ceiling. After that, the rest of the mixture on the spatula is removed with a narrower spatula. They are again placed on a wide spatula, while adding another new solution. - In some cases, a construction rule may be used to apply putty. At the same time, it is a tool designed to level surfaces, and drywall does not need it.
- The average size of the spatula used to putty the plasterboard ceiling is 40-50 cm.
- Regarding the layer of the mixture on the plasterboard ceiling, it should be noted that its thickness should not be more than 2 mm. This is due to the fact that the drywall ceiling is a fairly lightweight construction, which implies the absence of any additional loads, including a large layer of the mixture.
Attention: It is important to pay attention to the fact that the plastering of a plasterboard ceiling pursues only a decorative purpose. This makes the surface perfectly flat. But you can’t fix the big damages.
- Thus, the most optimal thickness of the filler coating is 1-1.5 mm. The difference may be +/- 0.5 mm.
- In the process of pulling the mixture on drywall with a spatula, you can see the occurrence at the edges of scars. This is a normal occurrence. At the same time, it is important to ensure that the putty layer is not very thick. The resulting scars also need to be smoothed with a wide spatula.
- Thus, by experienced craftsmen, the plasterboard ceiling is plastered so that after that it practically does not need to be grouted, as it is absolutely smooth.
- At the same time, for a beginner it is almost impossible to putty plasterboard ceiling right away. Therefore, for final processing it must be wiped with fine sandpaper or a special grout. Electric graters are also sold in stores. At the same time, manual grouting is of better quality.
Caution: It is important to note that the surface must be wiped only after the mixture has completely dried, i.e. a few days after application.
