Building a house at the moment is very often carried out using aerated concrete blocks. They have excellent technical characteristics.
Aerated concrete houses, the interior decoration of which can be done with any modern material, are quite strong and durable.

Gas silicate blocks: properties and characteristics

What is aerated concrete? This material is aerated concrete that has small pores.
They are formed as a result of the addition of special blowing agents to the solution during the manufacture of aerated concrete.
The material has the advantages of:

  • Strength.
  • Reliability.
  • Durability.
  • Practicality.
  • This material itself is very light and when you select it, you can save on the construction of the foundation for the building.
  • The material has excellent thermal insulation properties. That is, the same temperature regime will be constantly maintained in the room.
  • Gas silicate blocks are easy to use.
  • They can be drilled with any tool.

Tip. To ensure the long term of operation of aerated concrete, it is necessary to qualitatively finish it.

What materials are suitable for aerated concrete

At the moment there is a huge selection of modern finishing materialswhich are used both for internal finishing work, and for external.
The interior decoration of the house from gas silicate blocks provides for:

  • Decorative rock.
  • Siding.
  • Plastic.
  • Block house.
  • Stucco.
  • Drywall.
  • A natural stone.
  • Ceramic tiles and more.

The photo shows examples of finishes on such a building material.

Tip. So that the finish is of high quality, surface alignment and insulation work are preliminarily performed.

Thermal insulation and surface leveling

Before doing facade decoration it is necessary for this to qualitatively perform surface preparation. This process includes cleaning, warming and leveling.

Tip. Since most of the materials used in decoration are attached to the crate, the warming process can be carried out in parallel.

To insulate walls of gas silicate concrete, standard and practical materials are used:

  • Styrofoam.
  • Polyurethane foam.
  • Solid mineral insulation.
  • Mineral wool in mats or in a roll.

All of them are mounted on the wall surface. If there is a crate on it, then the material is inserted into its cells.
In order to level the surface, you can apply drywall or plaster.

This material is universal, since no finishing work can do without it.
At the moment there are several types of it:

  • Ceiling.
  • Arched.
  • Wall.

Characteristics:

  • All of them differ in production technology and sheet thickness.
  • More dense is the wall.
  • There is also a moisture resistant and fireproof drywall.
  • The material has an excellent heat capacity indicator and is able to withstand quite large loads.

Tip.
Work with drywall must be very careful. It can be cut quite easily with the help of a clerical knife, but one random hit on it can disrupt the structure of the gypsum dough.

Installation:

  • It is mounted on a prefabricated metal frame from special profiles. These profiles are attached to the wall or ceiling with dowels and a punch.
Each element of the metal crate is mounted with screws and a screwdriver.
  • As a result, a crate is obtained on the surface, the cells of which are at least 30-50 cm.
  • They can also be inserted insulation.
  • Plasterboard sheets are fastened on top of such a frame, the joints of which are glued with a special construction tape and putty.
  • Only then can the surface of the material be painted or plastered.

Plaster

Stucco finish
Stucco finish

This method of finishing gas silicate blocks has been used for a long time. It uses several types of plaster starting and finishing.
On top of them you can already use decorative plaster.

Tip. With this method of leveling the surface there is no way to do insulation work. Since the solution is applied directly to the surface of the wall.

To plaster the surface you will need:

  • Plaster.
  • Building mesh (for plastering).
  • Two spatulas (small and large).
  • Level.
  • Container for mixing plaster mortar.
  • Construction mixer.
  • Sandpaper.

So:

  • To properly knead the solution, there is a certain instruction on the plaster packaging according to which the dry mixture is dissolved in water.
  • Initially, starting plaster layers are applied to the surface and each of them, after complete drying, should be treated with sandpaper.
  • After the starting layer, finishing plaster is applied and the work process is similar to applying the starting.

Then the surface can be painted, pasted or use any modern finishing material.

Decorative stone in the decoration of aerated concrete structure

Interior decoration of aerated concrete house can be done decorative stone.
It has excellent properties:

  • Lasting.
  • Practical.
  • Easy to install.
  • Moisture resistant.
  • It tolerates temperature extremes.
  • Not able to deform under the influence of sunlight.
  • In appearance, it is very similar to natural stone, only its mass is significantly less than the mass of natural stone.
  • It is also worth considering that the price of a decorative stone is lower than a natural one.
  • Decorative stone can be of different sizes and different shapes.

Tip. It is necessary to mount such a finishing material on a pre-leveled surface so as not to violate the integrity and quality of the finish.

Installation of decorative stone, for fixing decorative stone you will need:

  • Adhesive or concrete mortar.
  • Level.
  • Spatula.
  • Capacity for a batch of solution.

Apply the solution on the surface and on the inside of the decorative stone. Excess solution is removed with a spatula.
After finishing work, you can apply a decorative putty of a certain color, which processes the joints of the stone during its laying. In such a process there is nothing complicated and you can do it yourself.

Siding in the decoration of the house from aerated concrete blocks

Siding Installation
Siding Installation

Siding is used both in exterior and interior decoration. For interior decoration, wall and ceiling siding, which is a panel or strip, is used, and for outdoor work, siding, which consists of stripes, is used.
Advantages of siding:

  • The main advantage of siding is its practicality. It is moisture resistant material and is not able to absorb a variety of contaminants.
Its surface is quite easily and simply cleaned and you do not need to use detergents.Wet rags will be enough.
  • Siding is not exposed to direct sunlight, and is not able to deform from temperature extremes. It is a durable finishing material, the average life of which is about 15-20 years.
  • The strength of the material is provided by the thickness of the panel or strip siding, as well as the technology of their production. It has a wide variety of shades and colors, which can make it possible to create a unique design for any room.

Tip. Such a finishing material is best used in rooms with temperature extremes and high humidity - bathrooms, bathrooms and so on.

Surface mounted siding

Decorating a house with aerated concrete siding has recently become increasingly popular. All this is due to the cost and practicality of the material.
In order to carry out its installation you will need:

  • Wooden bars.
  • Level.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Wood screws.
  • Starting lane.
  • External and internal corners.
  • Sealant.
  • Construction stapler (if necessary).

So:

  • On the surface, the crate is preliminarily made from wooden blocks and boards. It is necessary to carry out such actions directly on the surface, since it will be much more difficult to assemble a separately assembled structure.
  • Each element of such a crate is fastened with a screwdriver and self-tapping screws. All load-bearing strips to the wall are mounted with dowels, which increase the strength and reliability of the finish.

Tip. To ensure the long life of the crate, it can be varnished or painted. Only high-quality wood is used for such purposes.

  • As soon as the crate on the surface is already assembled, it is possible to immediately carry out the wall insulation using foam or polyurethane foam, which are placed in the cells of the structure.
  • To begin the installation of siding, you need to fasten the starting strip. The quality of finishing work will depend on it.
Stripes or siding panels are already mounted on it using self-tapping screws or a construction stapler. All joints for greater tightness are treated with sealant.
  • After the siding has already been fixed to the crate, all work proceeds to the installation of external and internal corners. They are mounted on the material using self-tapping screws or the same construction stapler.
In some cases, liquid nails are used.

Home Siding from aerated concrete is a fairly simple and quick process. There is nothing complicated in it and you can implement it yourself without involving specialists in this field, which will make it possible to save the family budget.
