You can watch videos on how to make Venetian plaster on the pages of our site. Venetian plaster is not so difficult to apply, only the technology and principles of applying the material must be observed.

How to make Venetian stucco video will show you the rules for doing this work, and you can do it yourself. Then the price will be much lower.

Rules for applying Venetian plaster

Of course, you will not show a master class on the implementation of this work, but everything can be done efficiently and quickly. This material is made from fillers - fine particles of marble, gypsum, lime, as well as a polymer binder based on water.

So:

  • Matte or glossy surfaces are achieved by various methods. For some material options you need to apply a small layer of wax, for others - there is enough vigorous smoothing of the coating with a steel spatula.
  • Under the influence of heat that is released during the friction of the tool on the plaster, the binder polymerizes. As a result, a stable crust begins to appear on the wall surface, matte or glossy, here everything will depend on the composition of the material.

Necessary tools

A video on how to make Venetian plaster will immediately show you a set of necessary tools and materials:

  • Two graters of steel with a width of twenty-five and twenty centimeters;
  • Spatulas: large and small - six centimeters, their edges must be polished and rounded;
  • Brushes: fowl and fleit;
  • Long ruler;
  • Level;
  • Beaker;
  • Pencil;
  • A couple of buckets;
  • Drill equipped with a whisk;
  • Grinding grater;
  • Skin;
  • Wide masking tape;
  • Level.

How is the Venetian base applied?

How Venetian plaster video is done will tell about the rules and subtleties of this work. For work with this type of plaster - the technology of applying to smooth, strong, and even walls is mandatory.

They can only have minor recesses - up to two millimeters. The prepared walls are covered with an acrylic primer in several layers (see Why do we need a primer: technological nuances of finishing work) As soon as the surface dries, they mark it and paste over it with tape along the borders of the marks.

So:

  • The essence of the technique called the “Venetian” consists in superimposing several layers of material consisting of randomly located stucco spots. They must be applied in such a way that a layer with different thickness is obtained and the so-called “color stretch marks” effect is created, that is, the tone of the spot should change smoothly. The combination of a large number of layers and the spots themselves forms the appearance of texture depth.
  • The starting layer is made of a composition containing fine marble chips. This will provide excellent adhesion to the substrate. It is applied in a small layer with a steel grater or with a spatula, like ordinary putty. As soon as the layer dries, a glaze layer is applied, creating a textured pattern.

Attention! If you plan to perform a matte cladding, then the coating layer should be applied from the same material as the first.If, as a result, a glossy surface is required, then finely dispersed plaster is put into operation, which is mixed with a pre-selected dye.

How to work with Venetian plaster

DIY Venetian plaster video tutorials will tell you about the sequence of applying the material and its subsequent processing.

Applying Venetian Plaster Layers
Applying Venetian Plaster Layers
  • As soon as the wall is plastered and dried, a facing putty is applied to it. She is left for six to eight hours;
  • Then a primer is applied, which is diluted with water in a ratio of one to seven. It is rubbed thoroughly, with a slight pressure on the mowl. Having applied two layers, it is necessary to allow the composition to dry;
  • Having measured the necessary amount of plaster soil material, it is well kneaded. After that, the paint is added to the mixture in the required proportion. Everything is mixed again until a creamy consistency comes out;
  • The composition is superimposed on the surface with a small spatula.

Caution: Work must begin from any upper corner. The plaster is spread with an even layer in the same way as ordinary putty, that is, with movements from the bottom up, going a little to the side.

  • The plaster accelerates to the sides in movements in different directions. The grater must be pressed firmly against the wall and held against the wall at an angle of ten degrees. Make sure that no gaps remain. The lower part of the wall is processed by movements from the bottom and up. After the primer is over, give the plaster five hours to dry.
  • When applying it is not necessary to apply great effort. Application is done evenly:
  • Measuring the right amount of plaster, mix it and add paint. The composition is mixed until smooth.

Attention: Please note that before performing the Venetian plaster, a miscalculation in the proportion of the dye in the future may force the person to apply additional layers that will have a corrected color.

  • On the surface of the short grater, the material is applied in a small amount with a small tool. It is smeared with arbitrary strokes using an arcuate motion, which will approximately equal the length of the grater.
  • The influx of the composition, which is collected at the end of the extreme movement on the surface, is accelerated by the rectilinear movement of the grater. Combining accelerating and spreading movements, arbitrarily changing the length, as well as the direction, a one square meter area is plastered.
  • In this section, the material should be aligned with sweeping movements of the grater. This is done in an arbitrary direction until a thin and even layer comes out. The tilt and force of pressing the tool can be increased with time;
  • After a certain number of movements, the grater must be cleaned of the remaining plaster and wiped with a damp cloth;
  • Once leveling is complete, wait fifteen minutes. After we begin to smooth everything with a large spatula from top to bottom. With the appearance of gloss, you can ease the pressure on the tool so that the thin crust remains untouched;
  • Glaze the plaster. To do this, it is smoothed with a cleaned tool. Press the grater with both hands and hold the floor at an angle of five degrees to the wall surface;
  • All operations are repeated: applying the composition, dispersing it and further leveling, smoothing it, obtaining gloss over the entire surface;
  • In areas inconvenient for leveling and spreading, use a small spatula;
  • The material around the barriers is smoothed and glossed with a short grater, moving it in the direction from the obstacle inward;
  • The composition at the bottom of the walls is applied in an arc motion starting from the bottom.

Important! During glossy bottom movement of the tool should go from bottom to top and be crossed.

  • If after the appearance of gloss on the entire surface the result is not satisfactory, do not wait until the material has set, and smear the next layer of the composition. Perform all finishing operations again, breaking the wall into small areas.

Attention: Several layers can be applied to glossy plaster (their color may be different) until the final version meets your requirements.

What are we paying attention to

Venetian video stucco how to do the same will pay attention to points that need to be paid special attention. Finishing is carried out in areas whose area should not be more than 1 square meter.

In this case, there are four stages one after another:

  • Plastering (colors may vary);
  • Material leveling;
  • Smoothing the coating throughout the area;
  • Polishing or glossing the surface.

Caution: During application, the pressure on the tool at the start and end points of movement is relaxed. This helps to change the layer thickness. With glossy and smoothing operations, grater movements must necessarily cross the boundaries of the area nearby. The person selects the optimal pressure and equipment empirically for himself.

In the event that you do not like the texture of the plaster, you need to smear a few more layers until the texture and texture of the plaster is as it was planned from the very beginning. But here it is extremely important not to overdo it and not spoil the entire coating.

As you can understand, such work is quite serious, so a person who decides to do everything with his own hands should have knowledge and skills. How to make Venetian plaster - you watch the video and you can do everything, and the instruction will not let you miss important points.

The video in this article will show the whole process clearly and, having looked at the photo, it will be possible to start work.
