Novelties in materials, technologies: what's new for 2018
Construction and repair is a rapidly developing and innovative sphere, there is no limit to perfection in it and there is always something to simplify and reduce the cost. Of the new products on the construction market, materials such as glued beams, blocks of gas and foam concrete, SIP panels, logs have been shown; they have proved themselves in creating private houses, thereby occupying their niche in the market. Let's summarize the past year of 2018 and find out which construction innovations from it we will take in the following.
The content of the article
TISE Technology
One of the main ones for the past year was TISE (technology for individual construction and ecology), it is also called “permissible formwork”. Such domestic development will simplify the construction of a private house and will save on hired labor.
TISE postulates
The basis is the pouring of the pile-grillage foundation. He will expand the soles of concrete piles. Following the foundation, hollow concrete wall blocks are equipped.
Advantages of TISE:
- heavy equipment is not useful, therefore, we save on its rental;
- we can build without connecting to an electric network;
- no need for a large team and a lot of time;
- easy to communicate;
- the design is monolithic and does not contain cold bridges;
- the composition of the blocks has many variations.
If the cast blocks are also faced with brick, then the structure will not only look more presentable, but will also become more resistant to external influences.
Disadvantages of mobile formwork:
- not suitable for all soils (they will drown in a muddy soil, but it will be difficult to cut through rocky ones);
- moisture-proof blind areas around the perimeter of the building will have to be made oversized so that the grillage and piles are not threatened by the ingress of water.
Frame houses
The novelties of the past year also include the construction of frame houses. Advantages of such designs:
- we build on any soil, the weight of the building is small;
- we build inexpensively (we don’t rent lifting equipment and fill in a lightweight foundation) and quickly (a team of 6 people will cope with the facility in a month);
- we lay communications in the walls;
- seasonality does not affect work;
- plates do not shrink over time;
- The house is easy to re-plan, complete and re-veneer.
Cons of frame house:
- the need for frequent overhauls (average period between them is 25 years);
- in the case of the construction of a frame made of wood, the fire hazard is increased, but it can be reduced by treating the structure with a flame retardant. Antiseptic treatment is also recommended to prevent rot;
- the house will have to be additionally insulated, since the house is inferior to concrete or brick in this indicator.
3D panels
They will give visual volume to the construction of textured 3D panels. Frame-panel houses are now assembled using 3D printing. Monolithic 3D panels are panels protected on both sides by a reinforced mesh.
The main advantages coincide with previous technologies - price, weight and simplicity. But 3D panels are still characterized by low heat loss.
But the disadvantages of printing walls on a 3D printer:
- the need to order individual drawings and work on them will increase the cost of construction;
- there is a risk of pests in thermal insulation;
- need enhanced ventilation and additional sound insulation of the building;
- the structure is less strong and can withstand lower loads than built according to Canadian technology.
Fixed formwork and Velox
You can’t call it innovative, but quite practical.With the help of such technology, you can work in a narrow historical urban part, as well as equip a building site within the building itself. Fixed formwork is formed from blocks or panels, leaving a wall for placing reinforcement and pouring concrete. Like previous techniques, it’s quick, easy and inexpensive.
The recently proposed Velox technology is a subspecies of non-removable formwork, a feature in the use of slabs of different thicknesses of chip-cement or cement-chip type. They are connected using cement mortar with the addition of water glass, which increases the rate of moisture repellent. Expanded polystyrene in the outer plate reliably insulates the walls. Such a lightweight construction, erected quickly and not requiring additional insulation, demonstrates high resistance and strength.
Cylindrical Log Construction
A rounded log is preferable to a traditional glued beam in wooden construction because of its higher heat capacity and lower price. At the same time, the construction technology is preserved and when the object becomes cheaper, the operational characteristics of the building do not deteriorate due to material savings.
All of the listed materials and technologies are aimed at simplifying individual construction and lowering the budget, therefore they are rapidly gaining popularity, gradually replacing outdated methods, more complex and expensive. And the industry continues to evolve, so stay tuned so you don’t miss reviews of technological innovations that regularly come to the market.
