TV Bracket Selection Criteria
When choosing a design should take into account its characteristics.
These include:
- Weight Limitthat can withstand the product. If this parameter is not taken into account when buying, after installation on the wall, devices under the weight of the TV may break.
Tip: You should not purchase a bracket before buying a TV.
- Device typedesigned for bracket. Most of the models produced are versatile, and are used for any TV design. However, there are products for mounting only liquid crystal, plasma or CRT models. This parameter must be specified by purchasing a bracket.
- The presence of additional shelves.
- Versatility. All TV wall brackets are designed to withstand a TV with a specific screen size, as indicated in the product instruction manual.
- Appearance. This parameter does not affect the device’s performance, it all depends on preferences and tastes. But it is desirable that the selected bracket organically fit into Interior Design, as in the photo, but in style suited to the type of TV.
Modern models are often equipped with special protective boxes designed to mask wires. They allow you to hide a large number of cables connected to the device and protect them from damage.
Features of mounting the bracket
So that installation work does not entail additional costs after attracting experienced specialists, everything can be done with your own hands, if you have the necessary tools and the minimum skills for repair work. As part of any wall bracket there are: a base mounted on the wall and a mating part, a TV is attached to it.
Further:
- The place on the wall is determined for fixing the structure.
- Pencil or marker is used for marking. Special attention must be paid to the installation height. If this option is not selected correctly, watching TV may harm your eyes and cause a headache.
Tip: To choose the right product, on the wall you should fix the TV model made of any materials that are at hand, and “watch” it for about 30 minutes. In the normal position of the TV, the bracket can be mounted.
- You need to mount the device near the outlet, but so as not to accidentally damage the wiring when drilling holes on the wall for bolts.
- Cabinets with hinged doors or other objects that could harm the screen should not be placed near the TV.
- When installing the pan-tilt bracket, especially for large-sized TVs, you need to purchase reliable bolts that can withstand a significant weight of the structure.
Mounting sequence
Installation of any type of bracket for TV, after marking on the wall of its location, is performed in the following sequence:
- A horizontal stand is unscrewed from the base of the TV.
- The assembly and installation instructions are being studied.
- Fasteners are screwed onto the back of the TV to connect to the bracket.
- The distance from the top of the plate fixed to the wall to the top of the TV is determined by applying the bracket to the fasteners already installed on the TV.
- This value is laid down from the desired position of the top edge of the screen on the wall.
- A plate for fastening is applied to the wall, and the fastener placement points are marked with a pencil.
- Holes in the wall are drilled.
- An anchor or dowel is inserted into the holes to fix the wall of the bracket.
- All operations are controlled by the construction level.
- The bracket is mounted on the base.
- TV is attached.
- The strength of the entire structure is checked.
- Electrical wires, antenna are connected. If there are boxes, all communications are hidden in them.
- Under the base plate of the structure, wooden blocks can be additionally installed.

Homemade TV mount to a wooden wall
To save money, you can make a TV bracket yourself. It is not necessary to use metal blanks. It is enough to choose high-quality wooden bars and use them as a basis for mounting a TV.
To make a bracket for a 26-inch TV, you will need two trims with dimensions:
- Thickness not less than two centimeters.
- It’s about 15 centimeters longer than the back of the TV, which will increase the structural strength.
- Width - 8 centimeters.
Tip: To position the TV with a slight slope, the upper bar should be made two centimeters thicker than the bottom.
Further:
- Two self-tapping screws are screwed into the upper trims, into which gripping rings are mounted for hanging on the wall.
- Drill holes for fasteners.
- The upper bar is bolted to the rear of the TV.
- The distance between the rings located on the wooden plank is carefully measured and the location of the hooks for the suspension is determined from them.
- Bolt holes are drilled and hanging hooks are attached.
- A TV is hung on the wall.
To make a TV bracket, the size of which is less than 26 inches, the same trims are used in the amount of three pieces. Two of them are attached, as in the first case, to the back of the TV.
But in this case, the TV from above should support not one bar, but two. To do this, they are filed to each other at an angle so that when connected, they form a “lock”.
Wherein:
- One of the strips is fixed to the wall.
- Another detail is on the back of the TV.
- The third is screwed from the bottom to the TV panel. It will be a kind of emphasis.
- After hanging the TV on the wall, the upper slats fit snugly against each other, which will provide additional stability.
This installation allows you to securely mount the bracket for the TV, which is not equipped with a rotary mechanism. To make a swivel bracket, you will need to prepare additional parts of the mechanism, fixed with special bolts. This will allow you to change the position of the structure, and then fix the TV at a given point.
To install the TV bracket on the wall with your own hands, it must be borne in mind that the diameter of the holes should not be larger than the diameter of the dowels used to fix the structure in order to avoid distortion of the device. Attachment points must be masked with the decorative pads included in the product kit. If all work will be carried out carefully according to the instructions, the installation of the bracket and mounting the TV on it will be carried out easily and quickly.
