The Russian company UNIS is one of the domestic leaders in the production of dry building mixes. The range of its products includes about a hundred names of dry plasters, putties, tile adhesives and other mixtures. One of them is gypsum plaster Yunis Teplon - the characteristics of which will be the subject of study in this article.

Material Description

Under this name two types of dry mixes are produced: gypsum plaster Teplon gray and Teplon white.

Structure

This versatile mix is based on a gypsum binder. And the heat-saving properties declared in the name itself are due to perlite - a unique additive from a natural mineral of volcanic origin.

Perlite facilitates plastering, so it can be applied in a rather thick layer, eliminating deep bumps and not creating a significant load on the base.

In addition to gypsum and perlite, the composition of the plaster includes ingredients that give it the following properties and characteristics:

  • strength of the finished coating;
  • resistance to cracking;
  • increased viability of the solution;
  • high adhesion to the base.

All this makes the described product in demand in such a field of construction as interior decoration.

For reference. In composition, the gypsum plaster Yunis Teplon white and gray practically do not differ. The color of the mixture depends on the characteristics of the raw materials used, mainly gypsum. The surface acquires a constant color after the solution dries.

Application area

Plaster is used in the decoration of ceilings (see How to do the ceiling plastering yourself) and walls in the interior of public and residential buildings. It is recommended, among other things, for leveling surfaces in medical and child care facilities, as there are no harmful substances in the composition.

The resulting coating is an ideal basis for such types of decorative finishes as staining, wallpapering (see Wall decoration in wallpaper in the correct execution), facing with an artificial stone or a ceramic tile.

Since the main binder of the mixture is gypsum, its use is allowed only in rooms with normal and moderate humidity. But if ceramic tile is chosen as the cladding, then Teplon can be applied to walls and in moist heated rooms, provided that the joints are sealed with a waterproof grout.

The advantages of the material include:

  • Plasticity, ease of application with your own hands;
  • A long period of solidification of the solution, which allows it to be diluted in a larger volume than conventional gypsum compositions;
  • The possibility of applying a thick layer in one go (alignment of differences with a depth of up to 70 mm is allowed);
  • High heat-saving and soundproof properties;
  • Getting a smooth surface with the possibility of glossy, no need to putty on the walls after plastering.
After the plaster dries, the surface can be painted or glued immediately

Like all other gypsum plasters, Teplon has the ability to absorb excess moisture and give it away when the air becomes dry. Therefore, the surfaces leveled by him normalize the humidity in the rooms, participating in maintaining a healthy microclimate.

Tip.For painting or decals of thin and transparent wallpapers, choose a mixture of white, so as not to get an unpredictable result.

Application rules

Before proceeding to stucco walls this composition, it is necessary to prepare the basis:

  • Clean it from any dirt and grease stains;
  • If there is an old coating, clean it completely or to a stable layer - there should be no crumbling and exfoliating areas on the surface;
  • Primer and dry.

It is important. Porous and highly absorbent substrates are recommended to be treated with a primer 2-3 times with drying of each layer.

Priming is an obligatory stage of preparatory work
Priming is an obligatory stage of preparatory work

If you ignore the surface preparation according to all the rules, the Teplon gypsum plaster will not be able to show its high adhesive properties, and in the case of an unstable base, after a while it will simply fall off with the old coating. Alignment should be started immediately after the last coat of primer has dried, so that dust does not have time to settle on the surface again.

The solution is prepared in such an amount that the finisher will have time to work out in 50-60 minutes. After he begins to lose moisture, and with it elasticity and other properties.

Instructions for preparing the working solution are on each package. It prescribes to pour the dry mixture into a clean container with high walls, after pouring cool water into it at a rate of about 0.5 l / kg. That is 15 liters per bag of 30 kg.

After that, the solution is kneaded with a mixer nozzle inserted into the drill until a homogeneous mass without lumps is obtained. To prevent air bubbles from forming in the mass, the drill must operate at low speeds.

After the first stirring, the solution is allowed to infuse for two to three minutes, mixed again and set to work. The plaster is applied manually with a spatula with a layer of no more than 5 cm. If a layer of a larger thickness is required for leveling, use a plaster grid or perform work in two steps, after waiting for the previous layer to completely dry.

Conclusion

Building mixtures of domestic production are increasingly bought due to the affordable price and constantly increasing quality. They are manufactured to international standards with modern equipment.

Teplon gypsum plaster, the characteristics of which are not inferior to foreign analogues, is one of the most popular mixtures, which allows not only to achieve perfect leveling of surfaces, but also to maintain heat and maintain a normal microclimate in the rooms.
