Demand for the services of qualified stovemakers has not subsided since antiquity. Small energy, independent heating, stove and fireplace heating occupy 70% of the market segment in Russia, the rest belongs to central heating.
Tiles for furnaces and fireplaces have been known for a long time and are used for greater heat transfer of the heating element along with obtaining an aesthetic effect.
The choice of location for installing the stove and fireplace in the room is very important for creating a certain temperature and optimal microclimate. Photo and video materials will help to make the right choice, the appeal to which is inevitable with any undertaking in business.

Chimney system and its appearance

A qualified stove maker laid out the original red brick chimney system. Harmoniously entered into the interior of the room.
The system is safe and convenient to use, suitable for fuel use, does not smoke, the draft is good and the room warms up enough, but I would like more heat. What will help to get heat with certain dimensions of the system?
It turns out that everything is quite simple and doable. Properly selected tiling fireplaces and stoves, allows not only to keep heat, but also to increase heat transfer, in some cases twice.

General decoration trends

The surface to be decorated can be either new or pre-made by yourself:

  • Cleared of dirt, dust, particles of solution.
  • The seams deepen between the bricks with a metal object.
  • Depending on the choice of decorative finishes, a masonry mesh is applied over the entire surface.
  • All elements are sized to fit, selected according to colors and shades, the desired shape or pattern is created. Parts and individual elements can be laid out on the floor and combined them on the projection of the fireplace.
  • The use of irregularly shaped tiles necessitates their labeling or numbering in order to correctly assemble the puzzle. Before laying on each element is written its own number and the number of the neighbor.
The void of the corners and the bottom of the chimney system is filled with small pieces of unspent tile or its scraps.

Modest tools and supplies

Each surface has its own area and the length of the outer corners. On the packaging with dry mixtures, there is a fairly simple downtime and clear instructions for diluting the composition and its use.
Simple calculations and calculations can be done independently and purchased all the necessary components. Tiling the fireplace and the stove surface with terracotta products improves the microclimate of the room and the price is acceptable to many consumers.
They absorb excess moisture well and give it back when not enough. Terracotta refers to environmentally friendly and very popular materials, so we will dwell on it in detail.
A conditional surface area of 3 m² is taken with a length of external corners of at least 4 m.
So:

  • Terracotta tiles with a minimum size of 3 m² and a small margin are bought, so as not to rush about in search of tiles of the same shades if material damage occurs.
  • 60 pieces of terracotta corner elements are purchased.

Caution: Chimney systems experience heating to high temperatures, therefore all adhesive compositions are heat-resistant materials. The name terracotta comes from terra - clay and cotta - annealed at high temperatures.

  • You need 1 bag of glue, 1 bucket of paste, 1 bag of grout to fill the tile joints.
  • A small amount of drywall sheet, cut into squares with a thickness of 9.5 mm to maintain the distance between the tiles to be laid and to obtain even seams.
  • Capacity for mixing and preparation of mixtures.
  • Drill with a mixer nozzle.
  • Grinder and cutting diamond wheel.
  • A pair of spatulas, one of which is simple, the second comb.
  • Sealant gun filled with tube.
  • Level, tape measure and a pair of gloves.

Cladding

Fireplace decoration tiles and stoves terracotta tiles begins with the placement of special corner elements at the joints of the walls.
They give the decorative cladding a finished and finished look, allow you to ensure and achieve absolute resemblance to the traditional Russian style. The horizontal is verified by level.
So:

  • The heat-resistant, reinforced adhesive mixture is shut with water and mixed until smooth with a drill with a special mixer nozzle.
  • Reliable and easy-to-use adhesive mixture, is used for facing heated surfaces and masonry at the base, experiencing high temperatures. Terracotta glue can withstand heat up to 200 ° C.
  • The prepared solution is used no later than one hour. Permissible application temperatures are from + 5 ° C to + 35 ° C; the layer thickness recommended by specialists is 10-12 mm.
You do not need to add anything to the batch mixture, all the necessary components are included. The finished dry mix does not require additional screening, its maximum fraction does not exceed 2 mm, and it is rarely encountered.

Caution: Heat losses are eliminated by ensuring full contact of the facing materials with the heat source, that is, with the surface of the heating system.

  • Good heat transfer occurs with a uniform, continuous distribution of the adhesive composition on the tile and on the surface of the wall.
  • Using the comb spatula, the prepared mass is distributed over the surface of the masonry and the tile with the previously applied adhesive is pressed against it.
  • Light movements ensure reliable bonding and connection with each other.
  • Laying tiles must begin from the bottom and go up, ending each row.
  • Tiles are made with a size of one brick or a half bricks, so the rows are formed in such a way as to create the illusion of old brickwork. Do not forget to measure the distance between the tiles with plasterboard squares.
  • Tile finishing of fireplaces and stove surfaces does not bypass areas experiencing maximum temperature effects exceeding 200 ° C.
  • These places are laid out with tiles with high-quality heat-resistant mastic. Before use, the finished mastic is thoroughly mixed in a bucket in which it is sold.
It is necessary to achieve the consistency of thick sour cream obtained from whole milk from a cow. If, after kneading, the mastic turns out to be more liquid than necessary, it is given the necessary density by simply adding ordinary, fine, river sand.
  • Well-mixed mastic has a very high adhesive ability, terracotta tile, in turn, on the back is a corrugated, ceramic surface, which ensures the durability and reliability of adhesion of the tile with glue and base. Terracotta tiles are very well sawn with an ordinary grinder with a diamond cutting wheel.
  • At least 24 hours are allotted to the process of complete drying of the mastic and adhesive mixture.

What else can be faced

The lining is performed by materials having the ability to expand from high temperatures and at the same time not to deform. Ceramic tiles glazed from the front are most suitable for these purposes.

Strength, abrasion resistance, low moisture absorption inherent in certain types of ceramic tiles:

  • The majolica is characterized by bright painting on opaque glaze, a type of ceramic made of colored burnt clay.
  • Tiles are known and are used for decorating stoves from ancient times. They are recognized as the best materials in laying technology.
Facing them with a surface increases the heat transfer of the case and allows heat to be evenly distributed and to remain warm for a long time.
  • Terracotta tiles and their use are described above.
  • Clinker is a particularly durable, non-absorbent, baked clay refractory bricks. The composition of the tile contains dyes, so the front side is not covered with an additional layer.
Fireclay gives the tile high refractoriness.

Attention: To prevent cracking during operation of the furnace, it is necessary that the surface of the tiles is tiled with a heat-resistant adhesive mixture, then the expansion of materials will not conflict with each other.

Fireplace lining scheme

Fireplace decoration tiles and a brief outline of its implementation deserves special attention. Fireplaces serve as an invariable symbol of warmth and coziness, do not lose their position in popularity, reflect the homeowner's viability and his status, and crackling logs and smoldering embers allow you to find peace, tranquility, relieve stress and improve mood.
The work is carried out according to the same scheme as the laying of terracotta tiles:

  • The nuance is the immediate removal from the surface of the tile of the remnants of the solution, so as not to further damage the glaze.
  • Grouting (jointing) of the joints is done after the glue has completely dried.
  • 15-20 minutes after the solution dries, the tile is cleaned with a clean flannel material.
  • Finally, the seams are treated with a special dirt-repellent.

The fireplace is ready for use as directed.
