Non-woven murals call those products that contain the same component in their composition. The basis of this material includes unmodified and modified cellulose fibers.

Non-woven murals can be completely divided into several types. Their price does not differ significantly, but there is a difference in structure.

Cons and pros

This material has its advantages and disadvantages.

Let's take a closer look:

• Dense base structure It allows you not to waste time and energy on fixing up flaws in the wall and leveling it; it hides all the flaws without problems;
• Flammable material;
• Wallpaper does not hold air, allow it to circulate;
• Installation is done without any problems do it yourself. Wallpaper is strong enough, so it does not stretch and do not tear. And the width of the strips allows you to reduce the time for gluing;
• The peculiarity of sticking this material is that the glue is applied to the wall itself, and not to the wallpapersignificantly saving space;
• Do not absorb dustwhich is extremely important for people with allergies;

• Do not fade in the sun, which increases the period of use.

The disadvantages include their poor reaction to water, they cannot be washed and therefore it is better not to choose them for the kitchen. Also, the cost of the material is quite high.

Sticking non-woven wallpaper

Wall mural vinyl on a non-woven basis to stick will not be a problem and everything can be done independently. Only sticking instructions should be followed. It has its own characteristics.

Prepare the tool

The tool must be prepared in advance.

And the list consists of the following:

• Roulette and laser level;
• Long hair roller;
• Plastic spatula: its edges should be soft, this is an important condition for proper rolling;
• Brush - with it we will smooth out the glued strips;
• Good knife;
• A mesh designed to remove excess glue from the tool;
• Narrow metal spatula;
• Pencil and sponge;
• Several containers for ordinary water and glue.

We mark and prepare the walls

At the very beginning, it is required to inspect and carefully prepare the surface for gluing. A good basis for wallpaper stickers can be: chipboard, wood, paper, plaster, concrete, as well as other similar materials.

Attention: The color of the surface on which the wallpaper will be applied for painting should be uniform. It is better that the surface color does not differ much from the painted material. It is also worth considering that the interlining is quite thin, for this reason the color of the base can be visible.

So:

• Preparation for pasting must begin with cleaning the surface of old products, dirt. Old paint is also worth removing. In extreme cases, we carefully process the painted area with medium-sized sandpaper. On the finished surface, without fail, we pass the primer (see Primer for wallpaper: which one to choose and how to use).
• Non-woven wallpaper has fairly smooth and high-quality edges. This makes it possible to use the “butt” sticker method. The neighboring panels visually look seamlessly, like a whole. Due to the fact that non-woven wallpaper is available in a wide format, then we will analyze how to apply this option. From the corner of the room we measure one meter strictly vertically, for this we take the level and draw a line for reference.
• Why this is necessary: ​​when working, it is necessary to strictly observe vertical lines. Using a level, we draw vertical lines on the entire wall, adhering to a step of a meter. The standard width of the wallpaper is 1.06 m. Therefore, usually, a small margin is obtained. In the future, it can be used without problems during the design of a clear junction in the corners.

Cooking for both

So, we finished marking the surface for the wallpaper. The next stage is preparing the wallpaper. The appearance will depend on this, especially attention should be paid to the drawing, it should coincide.

Attention: Experts recommend cutting blanks immediately into all walls. Or at least one wall. Also, if you have a drawing, then make a margin of a couple cm. Then you can always fit.

• The complexity of the cut will directly depend on the pattern on the material. If there is no need to dock the image, then no difficulties should arise. The only moment: before cutting the next workpiece, we measure the height of the wall at various points. And only after making sure that the height is the same everywhere, we cut the desired dimensions of the wallpaper.
• If a large drawing is applied to the wallpaper, then you will have to confuse a little with the selection. To understand what size fit for our situation, you can see the icon on the label. When marking, we make sure that everything matches perfectly. To do this, constantly have to shift the next workpiece in different directions. The main thing is to avoid mistakes so that you do not have to glue the wallpaper piece by piece.
• On some resources, it is advised to leave a small margin of height of ten to fifteen centimeters when cutting material with a pattern. Consider, if the ceilings in the apartment are high, then this does not always play into the hands.
• For example: the fit size is forty-eight centimeters, and the height of the room is two and a half meters. In this case, guided by the rules of cutting, the length of all the blanks must be a multiple of the number 48, but without fail this figure should be greater than the height of the room. In our situation, the length of the workpiece will be 2.88 m.
• Upon completion of mathematical calculations, you can start cutting. We lay the usual plastic film on the floor or thoroughly wash the floors, but this is longer.The front part of the wallpaper is placed down and rolled them. We measure out the necessary length (leaving a small margin for fitting) and perform a notch. After that, we bend the wallpaper over the marks in such a way that the edges of the bent part and the bottom panel coincide. After checking all more than once, we cut the sheet along the fold line.
• We lay out the next sheet on the same side. Then we look at the adjustment of the drawings on two canvases. For control, we visually highlight a more noticeable detail in the figure, after which we try to combine two blanks on it. If all the previous steps have been completed in accordance with all the rules, then we can safely proceed to the next workpiece.

Attention: Rolls should be rolled sequentially on one side. Thus, it is possible to cut immediately to the entire area.

Cooking glue

What is the composition to apply to flezilinovye wallpaper?

For their stickers you need to choose a high-quality composition, which is intended specifically for this type of wallpaper. There are no problems with the technology of its preparation.

• To do this, we look at the instructions, it indicates the amount of water and powder that must be mixed.
• Add glue in small portions, constantly stirring the mixture. We give the composition time to insist, then mix again and remove the lumps if they form.
• We also pay attention to the cooking rule, because some mixtures must be insisted for several hours. Therefore, it is better to cook them in the evening. Everything, the glue mixture is ready.

Step by step sticker

Now we can talk about how glues wallpapers having a non-woven base:

• First step. In order to avoid misunderstandings, first you need to familiarize yourself with the attached instructions, which goes to the wallpaper. It may contain specific comments regarding sticker technology. Some manufacturers advise not to smear the walls, but the wallpaper itself.

We are preparing the plane

Note: to improve the adhesion of edges and walls, it is recommended to coat a larger area than the width of the material.

We try to evenly apply the adhesive mass. When working with wallpaper, glue is applied by roller only to the surface of the wall. This method is more simple and comfortable for work. Use only the glue that is intended for a particular type of wallpaper and in no case take the composition remaining after the last repair.

• Second step. The result of all the work will depend on how well the work with the first workpiece is carried out. The first sheet is the starting point with which the verticality of all the following blanks will be compared. Therefore, the first roll should be located exactly vertically from top to bottom. To fasten the sheet with the wall, iron it with a spatula. We squeeze out excess glue on the parties which are not closed up yet.

Attention: If you purchased a wallpaper that has a deep texture, then for smoothing a simple roller is suitable, which should not be pressed too hard.

• Step number three. We remove the excess residue below. The baseboard can cover only three to four centimeters, so it is important not to overdo it. Then look at the ceiling to see if there is any surplus left. Gently prune, leaving a margin for the next closure with its baseboard. Excess pieces are cut off. In this case, the knife should not be torn off the cut line, but we only move the tool. A similar technique to remove excess wallpaper will keep a straight cut line.
• Fourth moment. There is nothing wrong with the glue traces on the ceiling. To remove them we take a wet rag or sponge in our hands. Do not be afraid to wet the non-woven product. Carefully wipe the fillet to remove all traces of glue. Manufacturers of such compounds often assure that after drying there are no traces left, but practice shows that places with glue begin to shine not very attractively.
• Fifth stage. The next sheet is glued butt with the previous workpiece.After the solution dries, the wallpaper does not shrink, so no gaps should occur. Finished panels are rolled vertically along the wall, combining at the same time the details of the picture, moving everything to the previous element. Docking areas are ironed with a roller. Excess glue is removed to the free side, and the remaining pieces of wallpaper are cut from all sides.

Customize the wallpaper in the joint

• The final step. In the same way wallpaper is glued and cut in the corners. The only difference is that both panels in the corners must be gently pressed and cut at the same time. From under the canvas we remove the excess cut piece. To make the bond more reliable, the corners are additionally smeared and carefully we press the wallpaper itself to the corner.
